Pyramid Healthcare Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Henrico County Substance Use Disorder Treatment Facility

Altoona, PA – May 30, 2025 – Leading behavioral healthcare provider Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. has announced a groundbreaking ceremony to take place on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 to mark the construction of a new substance use disorder treatment center in Henrico County, Virginia.
In response to the overwhelming need to serve area residents suffering from addiction, Pyramid Healthcare has partnered with Henrico County on the design, buildout and operation of this state-of-the-art facility. Working closely with local leadership, Pyramid Healthcare has conceptualized a solution to the county’s well-documented substance abuse challenges, including above-average overdose rates and emergency department visits.
“We see communities across the nation which have been devastated by the impacts of addiction. Henrico County has taken on a proactive leadership position in combating historically high overdose rates, hospital and criminal justice system burdens and the overall cost of addiction on their community,” said Jason Hendricks, CEO of Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. “We are proud to have worked alongside the county on a comprehensive treatment solution that will offer a more appropriate therapeutic setting where individuals can begin their healing journey with dignity and the support they deserve.”
Located at 3808 Nine Mile Road in Henrico, Virginia, the new treatment center will accommodate 60 individuals. Treatment offerings will include withdrawal management and ASAM Level 3.5 residential treatment services in a secure, structured, recovery-focused environment.
“The Henrico Pyramid recovery center will be nothing short of lifesaving for those in our community who are struggling to break the brutal grip of addiction,” said Henrico County Supervisor Tyrone E. Nelson, of the Varina District. “It will offer residential treatment from medical professionals with both the experience and expertise to guide individuals as they detoxify, stabilize and begin their journeys to recovery. I am grateful to Pyramid Healthcare for partnering with Henrico County to realize and build upon the recommendations of our Recovery Roundtable. The result will be a model facility that addresses a vital community need while operating at no cost to our taxpayers.”
With an anticipated opening in spring 2026, the Henrico County facility will join Pyramid Healthcare’s two existing facilities in the state of Virginia, where the organization offers a full continuum of care. In July 2021, Pyramid Healthcare opened a 152-bed substance use treatment facility in Newport News, later launching a 160-bed facility in Radford in July 2023. Both the Newport News and Radford treatment centers offer withdrawal management, residential treatment, low-intensity residential care, partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP) and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
Founded in 1999, Pyramid Healthcare, Inc., has a quarter-century of experience bringing high-quality behavioral healthcare services to underserved communities. Pyramid Healthcare’s network of treatment facilities encompasses more than 80 residential and outpatient locations across Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
