While it may be difficult to recognize that you or your child needs help, early intervention and specialized treatment can help teens overcome addiction or manage mental health disorders.

Our assessment team will help determine which level of care is best for you or your child so we can develop an individualized treatment plan.

Our highly-trained staff specializes in drug and alcohol addiction and adolescent developmental stages. We offer teens a safe, supportive environment where they are surrounded by their peers. Teens can examine past behaviors and learn positive coping and decision-making skills. These are tools that teens can use to be healthy, successful and sober, even after leaving treatment.

A critical component of our treatment program is family therapy. Our staff works closely with family members to address the issues that may have led to drug or alcohol use. We’ll work through changes that need to happen in the home for a lasting, positive outcome.

For more information on Pyramid Healthcare and our services, contact our admissions department. There is no obligation for you or your child to enter treatment when you call.

Outpatient Treatment for Teens & Adolescents

Teens are often more vulnerable to drugs and alcohol than adults, and therefore it’s possible that experimentation can lead to addiction. Fortunately, early treatment can lead to long-term recovery. However, it’s important to seek a treatment facility that specializes in treating adolescents.

Pyramid Healthcare’s outpatient rehab programs provide therapy and counseling for teens who have either completed a stay in inpatient treatment or who do not have a severe substance use disorder. Our programs are designed to meet the unique needs of adolescents.

Outpatient vs. Residential Treatment

Outpatient rehab is less restrictive than residential rehab and allows teens to continue living at home in a familiar environment throughout their recovery process. Typically, outpatient treatment is around 10-12 hours per week, so adolescents are able to maintain a normal school schedule.

In inpatient treatment, clients live on-site at the facility 24 hours, 7 days a week. Clients can continue their schooling in inpatient treatment, but they do not attend school. Inpatient treatment has full-time, on-site staff, which is ideal for people with serious substance use disorders.

Teen Specialty Programs

Our specialty treatment programs focus on reaching teens in the community who may be using drugs or alcohol or are affected by someone close to them using substances. Pyramid Healthcare partners with community leaders, such as law enforcement officers and educators, to make sure our programs are effective in reaching those who need help most.

The staff of our teen specialty programs are held to the same standards as those in our treatment facilities. They are professionals in the field of addiction, often with expertise in working with adolescents.

Youth at Risk

Youth at Risk is an intervention program for juvenile drug and/or alcohol offenders. Youth at Risk is offered through our Erie outpatient treatment center in collaboration with local law enforcement officials and parents.

This program educates young people ages 12 and up about substance abuse while empowering them to make better choices. Professionally directed by a Pyramid Healthcare chemical dependency counselor, these sessions challenge young people to:

  • Examine their own values and experiences with drugs and alcohol
  • Discover the physical, emotional, behavioral and legal consequences of substance abuse
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Explore the cycle of addiction
  • Learn decision-making skills to help them avoid future, continued substance use

Student Assistance Program

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) provides support to students who are facing difficulties that may interfere with their academic success. Each school’s SAP team is comprised of administrators, counselors and teachers. In addition, each team includes a representative from a community mental health agency and a community drug and alcohol agency.

Pyramid Healthcare is contracted by local authorities to provide drug and alcohol liaisons for surrounding school districts. These liaisons attend SAP team meetings at each school and may conduct individual or group counseling sessions. They may also provide treatment recommendations based on their interactions with and assessments of the students involved in the program.

Note that SAP is not offered in Allentown; however, Pyramid has another program available to students in Allentown school district.

Mobile Treatment Services

Students in Allentown School District have access to on-site treatment with a (removed) mental health professional. All students referred for treatment will participate in an initial diagnostic assessment at school with Pyramid Healthcare staff to ensure they meet the criteria for treatment. Once the student is admitted into the program, an ongoing treatment status will be established in conjunction with the student and referral source to ensure it aligns with their school schedule.

Treatment services are provided on-site during school hours, with some additional after school hours for family session accommodations. Services are rendered by a licensed counselor with experience providing mental health care to adolescents. Frequency of treatment is based on clinical necessity and includes access to family and psychiatric services when appropriate.

In addition to our specialty programs, we provide outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization for young people who have substance use disorders or a dual diagnosis.
