Pyramid Healthcare announced today it has entered into an agreement to purchase WaldenSierra, a system of substance abuse and behavioral health treatment programs serving southern Maryland since 1973.

Walden has been recognized nationally for providing an integrated model of behavioral healthcare services to residents of southern Maryland. “We have a long tradition of providing a comprehensive continuum of care utilizing evidence-based treatment models and are looking forward to expanding our services and reach with the support of Pyramid Healthcare,” said Kathy O’Brien, PhD, WaldenSierra CEO.

Walden currently provides trauma informed behavioral health services including residential treatment, outpatient services, and recovery supports for adults and adolescents with substance use disorder, trauma and mental health needs. Walden is CARF accredited, and sees its relationship with Pyramid Healthcare as a means to increase its technical and clinical capabilities to speed growth in service delivery, particularly in light of the increasing demand created by the opioid epidemic.

Walden will become the first member of Pyramid Healthcare’s family of companies located in Maryland. Pyramid Healthcare’s focus remains on making treatment accessible and convenient for those who need it most.

“We are excited about our relationship with Walden. They have a long history of providing quality, integrated, compassionate treatment in Maryland. We look forward to having them as the newest member of the growing network of high quality behavioral health services that are Pyramid Healthcare,” said Jonathan Wolf, CEO of Pyramid Healthcare.
